JANUARY 2012 MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
Ø Meeting was called to order by President John Paulus.
Ø Club members did the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ø John asked for a moment of silence in honor of the military & their families.
Ø ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS MUST GO THROUGH PRESIDENT JOHN PAULUS FIRST BEFORE AN ANNOUNCEMENT CAN BE MADE.
Ø Treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer Sandy Mouland & posted by Sergeant of Arms David Lloyd.
Ø Vice President Randy Karkutt gave reports on upcoming events. (Please see coming events listed in the newsletter.) Randy is looking for someone to take the vice president job. He has been kind enough to take the postion over until someone steps up to the plate. PLEASE CONSIDER TAKING THIS JOB!!
Ø Secretary Cathy Wylin was requested by members Scrub Baker & Al Redwanz, to read the minutes from the last meeting. Minutes were read. Cathy also told the membership, that the rib dinner for Saturday, Jan. 21st.,
will be listed under “Bits & Pieces” in the tribune this week.
Ø Bar Manager Deb Holeman said the bar is doing well. She also thanked the members who filled in for her while she was not able to work, because of shoulder surgery.
Ø Trail report by John Paulus says that the trails look good, but of course we need more snow to be able to groom to the trails properly.
Ø President John Paulus asked if there were any prospective members in the house. John Hadyniar was present. New members Alan, Sue & Nick Brisbane were also in attendance. John read off the list of prospective new members. Motion to accept new members by Al Redwanz, second by Diane Lloyd. Members present voted by a show of hands to accept new members. New members were accepted. WELCOME!!
Ø Buddy System: A big THANK-YOU to Jim Gidcumb for doing some much needed handy man jobs & also for cleaning the club.Also thank-you to initials L.V. for cleaning of the club. (Please print your name on the buddy sheet for proper recognition.)
Ø Community Sharing: Dianne Lloyd said that 205 families were helped this year. Thank-you to Mr.& Mrs. Charles Lemanski for a large donation of much needed items. 4 packages of socks were also donated by someone from the club & a $50.00 check was donated by Lance & Susan Leach. The donation was made in behalf of Susan’s father Galen Swift & Bonnie Ripley.
Ø New Business: John let the membership know of the passing of our Vice President, Bill Laws over the Christmas Holiday of an apparent heart attack. He was 74. Bill was cremated on Dec. 27, ’11. A memorial for Bill will be held sometime this spring. He will surly be missed by many members.
Ø Mary Wilson will chair the euchre game on Friday’s & work the bar on Sunday’s. Thank-you Mary. Mary will be bringing Elsie Laws to the rib dinner on Sat. Jan. 21st.** Please come by to see Elsie at the club.**
Ø Old Business: We are still in need of a club manager. Please help Deb out by taking this position, so she can totally devote her time to being the bar manager.
John asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Andrea Eder made a motion , second by Dave McMullough. Meeting adjourned.
Ø David Lloyd did the 50/50. Winner was Sue Baker.
Ø COMING EVENTS:
Ø RIB DINNER: Saturday, January 21st. Social gathering 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Dinner 6:00 pm. Adults $10.00. Children under 12 $5.00. MEMBERS & GUESTS ARE INVITIED. Please bring a dessert to share.
Ø WING DING COOK OFF: Superbowl Sunday, Feb. 5th. Bring 10lbs. of wings to share with the judges & members. See Randy Karkutt for more info.
Ø WERTZ WARRIORS: L.F.O. presents Wertz Warriors dinner & check presentation on Thursday, February 9th. , at 5:00 pm., at the club. Breakfast will be held for the Wertz Warriors on Friday, February 10th. at 7:30 am. The breakfast is being put on by CLINT LEE-OWNER-ALPENA BEVERAGE. THANK-YOU. **We will also be raffling off the LAPTOP COMPUTER on Thursday, Feb. 9th.** Please bring in any sold or unsold tickets to the club A.S.A.P.
Ø SNOWFEST: February, 11th. Buttons for this event can be purchased at the club for $10.00. This includes a lasagna dinner, music & much more. Prizes will be auctioned off that day. NEED VOLUNTEER’S TO GET PRIZES FROM LOCAL BUSINESS’ES FOR THIS EVENT.
Ø L.F.O. BRIDGE TRIP: February, 14 & 15. FLYERS FOR THIS EVENT ARE AT THE CLUB. Please contact John Paulus if interested in doing this trip.
